Mr. Rudy Buttignol
Biography and Memberships
Rudy Buttignol is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Knowledge Network Corporation. In addition, Mr. Buttignol serves as a tutor at Berlin's Documentary Master School, and moderates financing forums in Amsterdam and Leipzig. Previously, he worked as a consultant, leading master classes around the world on the international financing and marketing of documentaries and prior to that, he served as TVOntario's Creative Head of Network Programming. Currently, Mr. Buttignol is the Chair of the International Advisory Council of the Hot Docs Documentary Forum; Vice-Chair of the Association of Educational Broadcasters of Canada; President of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television Foundation; Director on the Board of the Vancouver International Film Festival; and a member of the European Television and Media Management Academy's Advisory Council in Strasbourg and the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board. Previously, he was founding Chair of the Documentary Organization of Canada and founder of the Hot Docs Financing Forum. He has served on Boards of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television; Banff Media Festival; Canada Media Fund; Canadian Conference for the Arts; and Hot Docs Documentary Festival. He is the recipient of several international honours including the inaugural Doc Mogul Award from the Hot Docs International Festival, and nine Gemini (Canadian Academy) Awards. Mr. Buttignol was born in Pordenone, Italy. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Toronto's York University, and has completed Executive Education programs at the Banff Centre, the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Harvard Business School.
